Creature Creation
A Creature in Tag & Tally is a collection of tags that can ease or hinder game play.
Procedure
Follow the following simple steps to create a creature.
- Create a concept of what you want the creature to be.
- Design the creature sentence around this concept.
- All creatures have a strength and weakness
- All creatures can do something special
- All creatures have a basic attack with damage type
- All creatures have some type of motivation that drives their actions
- Write a description of the creature
- The level of the creature is equal to the level of the scene or hex they are found in.
Creature Sentence
We lay out your creature sentence in the following format, and all tags are in square brackets.
Name ([disposition] [descriptor] [type]):This creature [motivation] and attacks with [attack of choice] for [damage type] damage. It features a unique ability to [do something special]. It [has a strength] and [has a weakness].
Disposition: should define how the creature behaves in most cases.
Descriptors should define a key trait or something about the creature that is its basic essence. This can be good or bad.
Type: should define the general type of the creature. Types can vary by setting.
Motivation: should define what drives the creatures instincts.
Damage Type should be one of the allowed damage types in the setting.
Attach of Choice should be how they do their main damage. ie: with a weapon, a specific spell, their claws, etc.
Strength should be what the creature excels at.
Weakness should be something that a player can take advantage of to defeat it.
Strengths and Weaknesses are not known by the players -- they must find the answer through insights or research. To learn one your characters must find a 5 insights (1 tally).
